I lived with John during this shooting of this film, and he truly is one of the most talented actors. he gave his all to this film. I too loved him first in Eric. Wish we could find a copy of this. Wishing you all love and hope for you and your children.

John Savage is such a great actor. There’s something so innocent about John. He could have done more with his acting career though. He’s also a great music composer too.

    what happened to this guy?

Interesting note when he talks about his father WW2 service in Guadacanal.

He plays Sgt. McCron in Terrance Malik’s “The Thin Red Line” (highly recommanded) in which he loses his entire squad (Note: it portrays US Army not the Marines) during the assault of hill 210 in Guadacanal during WW2. I wondered if he had that in mind when he was making that film.

@dirkbogarde44 I wouldn’t say John Savage is an underrated actor. He may not be a mega superstar like Robert Deniro, but John Savage still is a wonderful actor, even if he’s not a box office star. Personally, I wouldn’t mind it if John was in more pictures, but on the other hand, it doesn’t make much difference because he still is a brilliant actor when he is in a movie. Also don’t forget, John does his own producing and composing too, which could be why he doesn’t act regularly also.

@Boncokbec Well, I’m orginally from Brooklyn and I’ve been living in Florida for 14 yrs now, but every where I go people tell me they can here the accent when I talk. Christopher Walkens is from Astoria Queens, NY, but his accent isn’t as strong as John Savage’s is. Chris Walken I think sounds a little more cosmopolitian, but it’s there with him too.

  18. Boncokbec sagt:

@jbdream3 Thanks for the info! I’m glad he kept his NYC accent despite the
fact that he’s been living in California for so many years.

  19. jbdream3 sagt:

@Boncokbec Hi, John Savage is from Bethpage, NY in Nassau County, Long Island and Chris Walken is from Queens, NY. Both guys are native NYer’s. I’m originally from Brooklyn, NY.

  20. dirkbogarde44 sagt:

@Boncokbec John’s a very under rated actor without question. There’s something very human about his performances.

  21. jbdream3 sagt:

I always thought John Savage was cute, especially in The Deer Hunter, not just because he was younger in that movie, but because he still is even now that he’s older.
